Throughout the year, Bison puts on a number of different activities for employees to participate in. NAOSH (North American Occupational Safety and Health, May 1- 7) Week was no different. With the NAOSH theme being “Make safety a habit”, Bison explored many ways to encourage employees to participate in safety activities. Some of which included: a fire safety demonstration, a sleep deprivation booth, AED demonstrations and our own Bison Feats of Strength!
NAOSH Week (May 1- 7) at Bison was a busy and an educational week for everyone at all our terminals. The NAOSH theme “Make safety a habit” was explored in many ways, including fire safety, sleep deprivation and general first aid, including an automated external defibrillator (AED) demonstration.
Professional Truck Drivers, as many professionals, are required to sit for extended periods. Add to that, long days and limited healthy meal options on the road; can make it difficult to eat well and get exercise on the road. Bison is very focused on promoting health and wellness for our people. We have workout facilities in most terminals, we train new Drivers on healthy eating and we provide consistent promotion to our people about working toward a healthy lifestyle.
Any time that we can make health and wellness easy and accessible, it is a big win for our Drivers.
We are excited to partner with DAHON folding bikes for the summer of 2016. We will be road testing a couple bikes and conducting reviews of them, and we even have a contest to win one!
This year’s theme for NAOSH Week May 2nd – 6th was to “Make safety a habit”. Activities were held throughout the week and were designed to engage everyone at all Bison terminals. With these activities came prizes, and lots of them. Participation in an activity earned a stamp on your “safety passport” for a chance to win the NAOSH Week grand prize.
While there are many factors that can impact a technician’s decision of where to work, one of the most common influences is the opportunity for growth. No matter the situation, it’s important to have the chance to gain experience, develop skills and increase earning potential.
